How to Setup SMTP?

Configuring SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is essential for sending emails from your email client, such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or any other email application.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you configure SMTP settings:

  1. Go to your cPanel login page (usually yourdomain.com/cpanel).
  2. Enter your username and password to access the cPanel dashboard.
  1. In the Email section, click on Email Accounts.
  2. Click Create to set up a new email address if you don’t already have one.
  3. Fill out the email details and click Create to finalize.

Step 3: Locate SMTP Configuration Settings

  1. In Email Accounts, find your email address and click Connect Devices (or a similar option).

  1. Scroll down to view your SMTP settings. Take note of the following details:
    • SMTP Server (Outgoing Server) hostname
    • Port numbers (commonly 465 for SSL or 587 for TLS)
    • SMTP username (usually your full email address)
    • SMTP password (same as your email password)

Step 4: Configure SMTP in Your Application or Email Client

  1. Open your email client or application where you want to set up SMTP.
  2. Go to Settings > Account Settings and enter the following:
    • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: Enter the hostname you noted earlier.
    • SMTP Port: Choose the correct port (465 for SSL, 587 for TLS).
    • Security Type: Select SSL or TLS based on your port.
    • SMTP Username: Enter your full email address.
    • SMTP Password: Enter your email password.
  1. After saving your settings, send a test email to ensure the SMTP configuration is working.
  2. If you encounter issues, double-check your settings and consult with your hosting provider if necessary.
  • SSL and Port: If SSL is enabled, use port 465; if using TLS, use port 587.
  • Authentication Required: Ensure that SMTP authentication is enabled in your email client settings to successfully send emails through cPanel.

You’re all set! Your email client or application should now be able to send emails using SMTP through cPanel.
