How to Use the cPanel Terminal
The cPanel Terminal is a powerful tool that gives you direct command-line access to your hosting account. While it may look complex, this guide will walk you through using it step by step—even if you’re a beginner.
Step 1: Log in to cPanel
Section titled “Step 1: Log in to cPanel”- Open your browser and visit your cPanel login URL.
- Enter your username and password to access the dashboard.
Step 2: Open the Terminal
Section titled “Step 2: Open the Terminal”- In your cPanel dashboard, scroll down or use the search bar to locate the Terminal icon under the Advanced section.
- Click on the Terminal icon to launch the command-line interface.
Step 3: Accept the Warning
Section titled “Step 3: Accept the Warning”- If it’s your first time using the Terminal, a warning message will appear.
- Read the notice carefully, then click Proceed to continue.
Step 4: Start Using the Terminal
Section titled “Step 4: Start Using the Terminal”- You now have access to a full-featured command-line environment.
- You can run commands such as:
ls– to list files and folders.cd– to change directories.pwd– to print the current directory.nano filename– to edit files directly from the terminal.
- Be cautious: some commands can affect critical files or system settings.
