How to change status code of your domain?
To change the status code of a your domain, such as removing the “clientUpdateProhibited” status, follow these steps:
1. Understand the Issue
Section titled “1. Understand the Issue”The “clientUpdateProhibited” status is typically applied to prevent changes to the domain’s DNS or nameserver settings. It can be due to:
- Domain lock (Registrar lock) being enabled.
- Pending verification (e.g., email or domain ownership verification).
- A restriction placed by registrar for security reasons.
2. Log in to Your Account
Section titled “2. Log in to Your Account”Login to you domain registrar panel.
3. Check Domain Lock Status
Section titled “3. Check Domain Lock Status”- Navigate to the Domain Manager or My Domains section.
- Select the domain you want to update.
- Check if the domain is Locked. If locked:
- Click Unlock Domain or similar options provided.
- Confirm the action if prompted.
4. Verify Domain Information
Section titled “4. Verify Domain Information”- Ensure all required verifications, such as email or ownership, are completed.
- Check your email for any pending requests from your domain registrar, as they might have sent instructions to resolve the status.
5. Contact Domain Registrar Support
Section titled “5. Contact Domain Registrar Support”If you cannot remove the status yourself, contact domain registrar customer support:
- Use their Live Chat or call their customer support team directly.
- Provide them with your domain details and request the removal of the “clientUpdateProhibited” status.
Note: You may need to verify your identity as the domain owner.
6. Retry Updating Nameservers
Section titled “6. Retry Updating Nameservers”Once the status code is removed:
- Go back to the Domain Manager.
- Update the nameservers or make the required DNS changes.
